PESTICIDE REGISTRY
NOTIFICATION LETER FOR PARENTS AND STAFF
FOR 2009 - 2010 SCHOOL YEAR
Pennsylvania law requires annual notification of our program to control pests and a registry of individuals sensitive to pesticides. The Montour School District has adopted an Integrated Pest Management Plan (IPMP) to manage pests and weeds. Our goal is to protect our students and staff from pesticide exposure by using licensed applicators and minimal pesticides to control pests.
From time to time, it may be necessary to use pesticides registered by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to manage a pest problem. A pesticide will only be used when necessary and will not be routinely applied. Applications will be made only when unauthorized persons do not have access to the area(s) being treated. Notices will be posted 72 hours prior to application and for two days following an application.
Staff and parents or guardians of students enrolled in school may request prior notification of specific applications made at school. To receive notification, you must be placed on the schools notification registry. If you would like to be placed on the school's registry, please mail a letter to that effect with your name, the name of the student, home address, phone number of contact person, E-mail address, school name, and student grade to:
Montour School District
Pesticide Registry

McKees Rocks, PA 15136
Attn: Robert Rosensteel
Even if you registered last year, you must resubmit a letter to remain on the registry. When the District receives your letter, you will be sent a letter of application to fill out and return to the school. The school will then forward your application to the PA Dept. of Agriculture.
If a pesticide application must be made to control an emergency pest problem, notice will be provided by telephone or e-mail to those that have requested such notification. Exemptions to this notification include disinfectants and anti-microbial products, self contained baits placed in areas not accessible to students, and gel type baits place in cracks and voids, and swimming pool maintenance chemicals.
